Time for reflection – Final Phase of degree at UEL

Well it hasnt been easy, there have been cheers there have been tears.  Not many things in my life have been so testing, I have been pushed to edge and back again.  Now there are only 3 weeks to go and its all over.  I feel a mixture of trepidation and glee at the prospect of creating our final exhibition knowing that will the end of an era.  I am looking forward to recieveing my honors degree and wonder why I didn’t do it earlier.  Was it worth it? Yes!  Its been an experience I always wished I had had the opportunity to do when I was younger, oh well travelling the world, diving into turquoise waters and blowing bubbles wasnt so bad I guess!  What next?  After a well deserved beach break, my next project will be an extension of my final project.  Watch this space ….

 

Thermochromic Inks

Thermochromic ink is not a new thing but I plan on reviving the use of it for various applications.  I have investigated the use of it for swimwear in my previous project (see earlier blog …..Insert blog link here)

I am now working on wallpaper collection which utilises the inks in conjunction with thermo circuitry and the raspberry pi

Research Visit to William Morris Gallery

The William Morris Gallery is set within the newly revamped Lloyd Park, Walthamstow.  I was truly blessed not only was it a beautiful day but there was free parking outside! Yay!  After calling to arrange a study visit I was greeted by the lovely ……… who gave me exclusive access to the museum and archives.

It was a blessing to be able to browse the collection freely uninterrupted and was able to experience the essence of the collection and methods used to create the beautiful textiles and wallcoverings.  I was able to  collect an array of inspirational imagery a selection of which I share with you….
